FIELD THERAPIST

Chelea Stipe, MAChelsea

Chelsea is a field therapist for Blackwater Outdoor Experiences, working with youth and young adults struggling with low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, academic challenges and other issues.  Chelsea’s clinical interests include treatment of oppositional defiance, mood disorders, and the group therapeutic process.  Additionally, Chelsea is interested in experiential education and has developed a love for the changing power of the outdoors.

Chelsea’s clinical experience includes working with children and youth in the foster care system providing individual therapy and support services.  She has experience working with adolescent boys in residential treatment, providing individual, group, and family therapy for issues including mood disorders, oppositional defiance, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, impulse control and anger management.  Chelsea also has several years experience facilitating ropes courses and team-building groups.

Chelsea received a B.A. in Psychology and a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and Guidance, both from New Mexico State University. While working on her Master’s degree, Chelsea won a graduate assistantship in which she worked for the CHOICES program, educating college students about safe and responsible alcohol consumption.

Originally from Colorado, Chelsea recently moved to Richmond, VA.  In her spare time, Chelsea loves backpacking, hiking, running, and learning new skills.
