Blackwater Outdoor Experiences has been providing adventure based
wilderness therapy for adolescents and adults and
their families
for nearly thirty years.
Founded by George Bright, MD, in 1980,
Blackwater is part of a multi-disciplinary approach, as an
extension of the
Adolescent
and Family
Health
Center
, that includes medical & psychological treatment and addresses the
educational, vocational and recreational needs of clients and their
families. Blackwater focuses on meeting the individual needs of its
clients as well as structuring its program offerings to meet the
needs of those within the greater
Richmond
community and beyond.
Blackwater’s programs include a wide variety of
the 22-day Wilderness Therapy Expeditions, including our specialized
22-day Field Detox. Our 22-day Wilderness
Therapy Expeditions and custom programs take clients from across
the country.
